It seemed like it was going to be just another Saturday night watching football games and working on my stories, but it ended up being a dramatic night as the top two teams in the country were upset and all of a sudden the SEC was back in the hunt for a seventh straight national college football championship.

I have five televisions set up and can watch five games at once and the drama unfolded as Baylor was routing top-ranked Kansas State and Stanford was hanging on against Oregon. Then it was over and Oregon went down on a field goal and all of a sudden Georgia, Florida and Alabama had a shot again at winning a national championship.

There is this weekend and next and if the last two weeks are any indication, it will probably completely change again this weekend. Nothing like a Saturday in the man-cave!

I went to Madison County to watch Lincoln play the Tigers on their home turf last Friday in the playoffs. It was a cocky crowd and the Tigers were averaging 46 points a game and the first team defense had only allowed 64 points in their first 11 games.

Lincoln just shredded their defense and scored 42 points. However, Madison County piled up 55 points of their own. It was a great game and Lincoln should be proud of their playoff run. They got a lot of players coming back and will be 4A threats next year.

If you have not been to an Oxford basketball game, you need to get over there and see this talented team. They are deep and they play a tremendous defense and are learning how to win close games against very tough competition. I believe they are going to make a run in the playoffs, much like the baseball team from last spring.
